Designate your gift for a specific program

You donations can be designated for the specific program that has the most appeal to you. Options include:

Education and Training
Our fight against racism begins with opening opportunities to underrepresented minorities.  We have made significant strides – breaking the race and gender barriers in the machinist trades and enrolling more African Americans in our engineering program than any similar program in the country.  While government funding once provided up to 80 percent of the tuition, it now covers only about 20 percent.  Donations are crucial to keeping these programs going.

Food Program
Each month, we distribute nutritionally-balanced food to 41,000 mothers, children under the age of six, and senior citizens. More than 10,000 senior citizens do not have transportation and depend upon us to deliver food to their homes. Your support will aid in the distribution effort and in keeping our food centers in good repair.

HOPE Village Initiative
This new initiative aims to support academic achievement of children living in the neighborhood surrounding our campus.  With your help, we can assist two public schools, Glazer Elementary School and Paul Robeson Academy, by providing books, arts programming and recreational activities that put these schools on the same footing as other public schools in southeast Michigan.

Center for Children
The first six years are the most important in a child’s life. At Focus: HOPE’s Center for Children, special attention is placed on a child’s early learning experiences. Your donations ensure that children get off to a good start in their education and that they spend their summers in constructive, creative pursuits.

Community Arts Program
Each year, we bring high school students from the city and suburbs to participate in a leadership training program that uses photography as means of working together.  The Focus on the Mission.  program builds understanding and respect of different races and cultures. In addition, we have ongoing art exhibits at the Focus: HOPE Gallery.  You can impact the racial attitudes of hundreds of children by supporting these programs.

Community and Economic Development
Our community revitalization efforts range from cutting down weeds and boarding up houses to facilitating new construction and neighborhood safety initiatives. Your support goes directly toward improving our community and rebuilding neighborhoods to attract families and businesses.

Proud of new jackets

Youngsters in our Center for Children were among recipients of jackets donated by Hyundai Motor Company.  The jackets were distributed to children and families who really appreciated the gift of warm winter coats.
