Enroll now for Head Start classes

Parents and young children are invited to learn about the dynamic preschool education programs available at Focus: HOPE’s Center for Children on Monday, December 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. at 1550 Oakman Boulevard just east of Linwood.

Immediate openings are available in two programs:

• Head Start classes for children ages 3-5 who live in the 48238 and 48206 zip codes, and

• Great Start Readiness for 4-year-olds from any area of southeast Michigan

Both programs are tuition free for families that qualify.

The Center also offers Early Head Start for children six weeks to 3 years, and tuition-based Early Childhood Education for children ages five and younger.

Focus: HOPE is a partner in the Thrive By Five Detroit collaborative which is providing an innovative model of Head Start and Early Head Start service delivery. The program model includes significant investment in program quality, unprecedented levels of professional development for teachers and staff, and pioneering family engagement techniques. It aims to serve more than 1,000 children aged birth to age 5 over five years.

The community-based programs at the Center for Children have helped hundreds of youngsters build a foundation for learning and success in school. Teachers are highly qualified, and many have Bachelor Degrees in Early Childhood Education. The facility, which opened in 1987 to serve the community and Focus: HOPE colleagues and students, includes state of the art classrooms, an indoor gym, and new outdoor playground equipment.
