Focus: HOPE Workforce Development Director Named 2020 Detroit Workforce Leadership Academy Fellow

Jewel Chapman, Director of Workforce Development and Education at Focus: HOPE, has been named a 2020 Fellow of the Detroit Workforce Leadership Academy, a 12-month fellowship developed through a partnership between Corporation for a Skilled Workforce and the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program. The program is designed to improve local economic mobility, strengthen workforce development efforts, and create innovative solutions to the challenges faced by workers and businesses.

Jewel leads the development and coordination of workforce development and education programming at Focus: HOPE, with a focus on improving and maintaining department effectiveness and organizational alignment. She has been instrumental in strengthening Metro Detroit’s workforce with thousands of the region’s brightest previously untapped talents. Jewel has moved the needle in several fundamental areas, including increasing student enrollments and expanding job connections for students through diverse training cohorts – such as Truck Driving (CDL) and Hospitality.
